The battery cell energy efficiency refers to the percentage of the discharge energy to the charging energy in the battery charge-discharge cycle under given conditions.
Generally speaking, charging and discharging cycle tests are performed on battery cells under different temperature conditions, so as to obtain the energy efficiency of the battery cells.
The following table is a simple battery cell energy efficiency test procedure.
NO. |
Test steps |
Remarks |
01 |
Step 1: Place the battery cells in a Battery Test Climate Chamber at 25°C for at least 6 hours. |
Make sure that the cell temperature is the same as the ambient temperature. |
02 |
Step 2: Discharge the battery cells with a constant current of 1C rate to the termination voltage. |
A Battery Cell Cycler is required. |
03 |
Step 3: Place the battery cells in a battery test climate chamber at 25°C for at least 6 hours. |
The standing time depends on the temperature, and it is recommended not to be less than 12 hours at low temperature. |
04 |
Step 4: Charge the battery cells with a constant current of 0.33C to the cut-off voltage, and then let it stand for 6 hours. |

05 |
Step 5: Discharge the battery cells with a constant current of 0.33C to the cut-off voltage, and then let it stand for 6 hours. |
- |
06 |
Step 6: Repeat steps 3 to 5, set the target temperatures in step 3 to -20°C, 0°C and 55°C, respectively. |
Under the same charge and discharge current rate, the energy efficiency test under low temperature, normal temperature and high temperature conditions is carried out. |
07 |
Step 7: Repeat steps 3 to 6, set the current rate in step 4 and step 5 to 1C, 2C...XC, respectively. |
XC is the maximum charge and discharge current rate specified by the battery cell manufacturer |
From the above brief test procedure, it can be seen that in order to test the energy efficiency of battery cells, the indispensable battery test equipment is a battery cell cycler and a battery test climate chamber.
