EV battery power and internal resistance testing is mainly to test the available power and DC internal resistance of the battery system under different temperature environments. The relevant test standards are ISO 12405 and FreedomCAR.
1.Overview of testing under ISO 12405
ISO 12405 specifies that the power test and DC internal resistance test should be conducted at normal temperature, high temperature and low temperature respectively. The SOC of the EV battery system can be selected from 90% SOC, 50% SOC and 20% SOC; where 90% SOC can be adjusted to the highest state allowed by the EV battery system manufacturer and 20% SOC can be adjusted to the lowest state allowed by the EV battery system manufacturer.
The EV battery tester and battery test climate chamber are essential for these tests, and the linked control of both makes testing easier.
Please refer to ISO 12405 for the specific test procedures. It should be noted that for power testing and DC resistance testing in high and low temperature environments, the SOC needs to be adjusted in a normal temperature environment and then equalized in a high or low temperature environment so that the corresponding tests can be performed.
2. Overview of testing under FreedomCAR
The HPPC test specified in FreedomCAR determines the available power and DC internal resistance of EV battery systems at 10% SOC to 90% SOC, with a 10% SOC interval. During the test, the SOC-OCV curve of the EV battery system can be obtained.
